Samenvatting

Mr. Andesmas, seventy-eight years old, buys a house for his daughter Valérie. He wants to build a terrace overlooking the valley, a village, the Mediterranean. He waits for the contractor, who is late. The book tells the events that happen between half past four and nightfall, throughout this afternoon during which Mr. Andesmas waits.
