Lysis is a philosophical dialogue written by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. The dialogue is set in Athens and follows a conversation between Socrates and two young boys named Lysis and Menexenus. The dialogue explores the nature of friendship and the qualities that make a true friend. Socrates questions the boys on their understanding of friendship and challenges them to think deeply about what it means to be a friend. He argues that true friendship cannot be based on superficial qualities such as wealth or beauty, but rather on a deeper connection of the soul.
